Liquid methanol (ch3oh) reacts with oxygen gas to form gaseous carbon dioxide and gaseous water.

Again, this question also is to be expressed as a chemical equation. Thanks in advance!

  • 2CH3OH(l) + 3O2(g) –> 2CO2(g) + 4H2O(g)

  • CH3OH (l) + (3/2) O2 (g) —> CO2 (g) + 2 H2O (g)

The equation balanced by ‘Hunsgal’ is wrong as Hydrogen and Oxygen are not balanced.

It is given as 7 molecules of H and 10 molecules of O in the left side and 8 molecules of H and 8 molecules of O in the right side.

  • Methanol And Oxygen Reaction

  • 2CH3OH(l) + 4O2(g) —> 2CO2(g) + 4H2O(g)
